What We Do
The Pacifica Renewable Energy Training Alliance Inc. (PRETA) activities and initiatives to enhance countries’ capacity and capabilities for greater energy resilience include the following:
Information Hub:
PRETA serves as a reliable source and distributor of evidence-based information, research, and analysis on solar power and other renewable energy technologies.
Training and Accreditation:
PRETA conducts and facilitates training courses to disseminate knowledge about solar energy and complementary low-emission technologies.
PRETA assists countries in developing effective accreditation programs for designers and installers, and facilitates maintenance training for local communities where the renewable energy systems are located. This accreditation programs cover both on-grid and off-grid systems.
Community Networking:
PRETA provides networking opportunities for communities to interact, share knowledge, and learn from each other to foster innovation and best practices.
Technology Advocacy:
Encouraging the development and utilization of solar and complementary technologies is a core focus. PRETA advocates for sustainable energy solutions that benefit both the environment and local communities.
Policy Engagement:
PRETA supports its members in engaging with policy makers. It actively participates in shaping programs and policies related to solar technologies.
Collaboration and Advocacy:
The Alliance collaborates with similar organizations to promote the widespread adoption of solar power and other renewable energy technologies and advocates for the adoption of solar and renewable energy policies at all levels of government.
